Roster Moves: Jaguars place 10 on Reserve/COVID-19 list, James Robinson on IR & more


JACKSONVILLE The Jacksonville Jaguars have made the following roster moves, the team announced today.

Placed on injured reserve:

Claimed off of waivers from the L.A. Rams:

  • LB Jamir Jones
  • RB Mekhi Sargent

Jones, 6-3, 255, originally signed with the Texans as a rookie free agent following the 2020 draft and spent his rookie training camp in Houston. In 2021, Jones has spent time with the Steelers and Rams. This season, he has appeared in 13 games (three with Pittsburgh and 10 with the Rams) with one start. The Rochester, N.Y. native played collegiately at Notre Dame and appeared in 45 games and totaled 50 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in four seasons (2016-19).

Sargent, 5-8, 208, originally signed with the Titans as a rookie free agent following the 2021 draft and played in three games with the Titans (Weeks 1-3) and three games with the Rams (Weeks 13-15) this season. Sargent attended The University of Iowa and appeared in 34 career games from 2018-20. He carried the ball 354 times for 1,801 yards and 20 TDs, becoming the 11th player in Hawkeyes history to total 20-plus rushing TDs. He is originally from Key West, Fla. and attended Key West High School.
