JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed K Matthew Wright to the active roster and have elevated OL KC McDermott and WR Laquon Treadwell via standard practice squad elevation.
Wright, 6-0, 179, signed with the Jaguars practice squad on Sept. 28, 2021 and received two standard practice squad elevations and converted 3-of-3 extra point attempts. Wright played in three games with Pittsburgh in 2020 and went 4-of-4 on field goals and 7-of-7 on PATs. He also handled 14 kickoffs for the Steelers. He spent a portion of the 2021 training camp with Detroit.
The Lancaster, Pa. native attended Central Florida and is the school's record holder in points (375), PATs (212) and field goals (55). As a redshirt senior, he was named Second-Team All-American Athletic Conference after finishing the 2018 season by going 12-of-14 on field goals and 74-of-74 on PATs. He played at Lampeter-Strasburg High School in Lampeter, Pa. and was named Pennsylvania Football News Class AAA First-Team and a Section Two First-Team All-Star as a placekicker and punter.
