Sportscenter comes to Alltel

The SportsCenter Across America Summer tour – ESPN's ambitious project to celebrate sports across America by originating daily SportsCenter segments from 50 states in 50 straight days – will make its Florida stop Thursday in Jacksonville, site of that night's Falcons at Jaguars pre-season NFL game (also on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET).

The Florida edition of 50 States 50 Days will feature award-winning sports television and radio host Dan Patrick from inside Jacksonville's ALLTEL Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday will mark the first time Patrick, who generally hosts SportsCenter's coverage from major events such as the Super Bowl and the NBA Finals, will originate from the site of a pre-season NFL contest. Immediately following the game, Patrick will host live, post-game segments from the stadium, including an interview with a player or coach during the 11 p.m. edition of SportsCenter.

"The 50 States 50 Days series has far exceeded our expectations," said Mark Gross, senior coordinating producer, ESPN studio production. "The feedback from fans at each event has been overwhelmingly positive and has made this project very rewarding for everyone involved."

SportsCenter 50 States 50 Days began Sunday, July 17 at Boston's Fenway Park for the Yankees at Red Sox game. Since then, the series has featured canoe racing in Hawaii, blueberry pie eating contest in Maine, Freestyle Frisbee Championship in Washington, Snake River Stampede in Idaho, The Bluegrass 300 – Indy Car Racing in Kentucky, and other events celebrating the nation's affinity with competitive sporting events.
