Taylor's got milk

To close out the season after the disappointing playoff loss to the New England Patriots, Jaguars running back Fred Taylor made one more community appearance before going on vacation.

Mayport Elementary School had a surprise visit by the popular Jaguars running back recently to help celebrate with the winner of WENDY'S 3-A-DAY OF DAIRY TRAY LINER CONTEST. Duval County elementary school students participated in the tray liner design contest sponsored by the Dairy Council of Florida, the Jaguars and Wendy's.

Students were asked to emphasize the importance of dairy and nutrition while maintaining a strong theme to the hometown Jaguars. Fourth grader Rachel Hernandez was the winner of this contest representing her school, Mayport Elementary.

"It's always fun to get out and take time away from our busy schedule to hang out with the kids," said Taylor.

"Whenever I can give back I do, and to see the smile on their faces and how excited it makes them, it's always a treat," he added.

To kick off the event the school held an assembly outdoors, where a couple of the ROAR cheerleaders and Jaxson de Ville entertained the students before the arrival of the special guest.

After congratulating the winner and taking a few questions from the audience, Taylor escorted Rachel to her classroom where he would join her class for lunch catered by Wendy's.

"I was real excited to have Fred Taylor here," said Hernandez. "It's fun having to share this with my classmates and have Wendy's provide lunch for us."

"I drew a picture of the Jaguars at a game with the cheerleaders in the background standing in the bleachers…I really enjoy drawing!" she added.

Rachel's tray liner will be featured in Jacksonville-area Wendy's restaurants for the month of January. Her winning design can be found at
