Anthony Denman is the Jaguars' second linebacker selection of this draft. In each case, they are weakside linebacker candidates who give further reason to believe the Jaguars are going to either trade or cut Kevin Hardy.
Applying that logic, Denman is another need pick. The Jaguars drafted Eric Westmoreland in the third round and, interestingly, Denman and Westmoreland are similarly considered to be undersized linebackers.
Denman did not carry a draftable grade in most draftnik publications. Obviously, the Jaguars saw something attractive in Denman; probably special-teams ability and the potential to provide depth at a position at which the Jaguars want to make a change.
