The Jaguars have re-signed offensive lineman Maurice Williams, effectively addressing the void at right guard that would've occurred had Williams signed with another team in free agency.
Williams replaced Chris Naeole at right guard midway through last season, after Naeole sustained a season-ending leg injury. Naeole was released by the Jaguars recently.
A second-round pick from Michigan in 2001, Williams was a starter at right tackle for six seasons. The Jaguars signed Tony Pashos to become the team's starting right tackle last season, which was expected to end Williams' days with the Jaguars.
He accepted a salary cut last season in exchange for a reduction of his contract to one year and looked forward to finding a new team in free agency and a return to right tackle. Now, following a strong performance at guard last season, Williams would seem to be making a more permanent position switch.
Jaguars.com will update this story later today, following a press conference that will announce Williams' return to the Jaguars.
