#1 pick should be on your bench

One week down, two more to go for fantasy football supremacy. Hopefully you made it out of the first round and are on your way to nine months of bragging rights in your league. The big news this week has to be the Vikings' QB situation. Brett Favre is dealing with a bad wing and looks to miss another game; Tarvaris Jackson has toe problems and looks to be out also. That leaves rookie Joe Webb in the driver's seat, and the newly-signed Patrick Ramsey to be his back-up. Webb was a QB in college, but showed more skills running the ball than he did passing the ball. Now many leagues have Webb listed as a "QB, WR," meaning you can actually play him at the WR or flex spot. He could easily get you 25-plus yards rushing and throw for over 100 yards, but I'm not sold on him scoring against a Bears defense that stuffs the run. I'd let someone else deal with the disappointment that Webb is bound to have this season and see what happens over the offseason.

Start 'em

Jon Kitna: Kitna is probably one of the few starting QBs worth taking a look at that is still on your waiver wire this week. With Rodgers likely out this weekend, Matt Cassel recovering from his appendectomy and Kyle Orton going all Kyle Orton, Kitna is actually a low-end QB1 play against the Redskins.

Josh Freeman: Freeman is at home against the Lions this weekend, and he is owned in just 62 percent of leagues. I wouldn't get too excited about him, but I could see starting him if your other options are Rodgers, Cassel or Orton.

Knowshon Moreno: The Broncos offense is in shambles with their season over and coaching staff swap. The only person on the Broncos that holds real value as the season finishes is Moreno because the men in charge are RB-minded coaches.

Ryan Torain: Torain reclaimed the starting RB job after last weekend's 172-yard rushing performance. This weekend he faces the Cowboys' 17th-ranked run defense that allows 112.7 YPG on the ground, and they have also given up 11 rushing TDs this season. He makes for a solid RB2 play this weekend and is owned in just 56 percent of leagues.

Wes Welker: I've gotten a lot of e-mails asking if you should sit Welker or Tom Brady as they have locked up a playoff spot. I say yes because they have a chance to knock the Packers out of the playoffs with a win this weekend. Welker could go as high as a low-end WR1 play this weekend.

Kenny Britt: Britt looks like a good WR2 play this weekend against the Texans' last place pass defense. There is word that the Titans could change Randy Moss' position so both Britt and Moss can be on the field at the same time. Either way, Britt is the diamond here and Moss is the cubic zirconia.

Owen Daniels: Daniels exploded back on the scene last weekend with five catches for 91 yards. This weekend he gets the Titans' soft secondary and I see no reason why he can't finish with top-five numbers.

Chicago Bears defense: This should make my friend Chris feel better, but the reality is that the Vikings are without an NFL QB and are forced to run out a rookie QB who wasn't even invited to the combine. I have the Bears ranked #1 in this weekend's defenses.

Sit 'em

Aaron Rodgers: I am going to say Rodgers is out this weekend, so keep him on the bench. This is his second concussion this season and that means the road to the field is cut and dry with a battery of tests that he must pass to be cleared to play. The Packers' playoff hopes are on the line, so Rodgers wants to be on the field. But the rules are the rules and I think he sits based on what I hear.

Matt Cassel: Cassel doesn't even know if he will play, which means he shouldn't be in your fantasy lineup. Cassel has done far better than anyone thought he would, but the appendix surgery is certainly something that can cause problems since hits to the mid-section are common at QB.

Adrian Peterson: I know… how can you sit your #1 overall pick? I don't know, but you'd better find a way because the Bears are going to let Webb do whatever he does and they will focus on shutting down AP. I know you probably don't have the RB depth to sit him, but know that he is going to have another bad week because I said he would.

Brian Westbrook: Over the past four weeks Westbrook has put up 190 rushing yards, 87 receiving yards and he scored twice. However, the Niners run into their intrastate rivals (Chargers) who are sporting the 4th-ranked run defense. Granted, the Chargers have allowed 11 rushing TDs this season, but three of those were against the Raiders a few weeks ago and they allow just 91.6 yards on the ground.

Sidney Rice: It appears the Vikings will be playing outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium, and the high is expected to be a blistering 11 degrees for the day. Add to that the fact that Rice has a rookie QB that has a run-first attitude, and you have a recipe for disaster this weekend.

Brandon Marshall: Despite being owned in 95 percent of leagues, Marshall is being started in just 44 percent of those leagues. I personally dropped him in every league that I owned him in and I'd look at picking up Mike Williams of Seattle or Kevin Walter to play in your WR3 spot.

Dustin Keller: Keller has been pretty much a fantasy bust since week 4, and this weekend is going to be no different. The Steelers are on the uptick and the Jets have been exposed and are sinking like a rock. Look elsewhere for TE options.

Baltimore Ravens defense: The Ravens are known for their defense, but the Saints are known for their offense and are the defending Super Bowl champion. I will never bet on someone shutting down Drew Brees for an entire game, so the Ravens are on my bench this weekend.
