JACKSONVILLE – An offseason of change continued around the Jaguars Thursday.
This time, the changes were in the personnel department.
General Manager David Caldwell on Thursday afternoon announced the hiring of four personnel officials, including Kyle O'Brien as Director of College Scouting, Paul Roell as Assistant Director of College Scouting and Mark Ellenz as Eastern Regional Scout.
Longtime Jaguars personnel official Andy Dengler was promoted to Assistant Director of Player Personnel, and Chris Polian was hired as the Director of Pro Personnel.
O'Brien, a 12-year NFL veteran who spent 2012 with the Kansas City Chiefs as a regional scout, spent 10 seasons (2002-2011) with the New England Patriots, serving as a national scout for two seasons (2010-2011) and five previous seasons (2003, 2006-2009) as an area scout. He also was the team's pro personnel scout from 2004-2005.
Roell, a 21-year NFL veteran, has been with the Minnesota Vikings the past seven seasons as a regional scout and was with the Indianapolis Colts from 1991-2005 as an area scout.
Ellenz has spent all 13 of his NFL seasons with the Colts, including the last six as an area scout. He started with the Colts as the team's scouting assistant in 2001.
Dengler, who joined the Jaguars in 1998, spent two seasons (2009-2011) as a national scout and spent the last two seasons as director of college personnel.
Polian, a 19-year NFL veteran, spent 1998-2011 with the Colts, including three years as the Vice President and General Manager from 2009-2011. He was an executive scout with the Falcons this past season.
Polian was the Director of Pro Scouting for the Colts from 1998-2000, and then was assistant director of football operations from 2001-2003 before being promoted to assistant general manager/football operations in 2004.
He spent five seasons, 2005-2009, as the Colts' Vice President of Football Operations.
