First off the field: Day 10

8-8-21-Lawrence

JACKSONVILLE – They moved inside the stadium Sunday – and the heat did, too.

And while the Jaguars worked in helmets and light pads – i.e., "spiders" – Sunday morning's work inside TIAA Bank Field was a productive, two-hour session featuring continued standout plays as the team moves close to its 2021 preseason opener.

About 15,500 fans attended Sunday's Day 10 of Jaguars 2021 Training Camp.

"It was great," Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence said after a practice held in temperatures that reached 86 degrees with little cloud cover. "It was nice having a little change of scenery, and having the fans out here is always awesome. We're just really excited for the season. There's a lot of energy here.

"We've had a great camp. It's fun to have a little scrimmage day in front of the fans."

The Jaguars worked through multiple situations throughout Sunday's practice, a day featuring lighter contact than a controlled scrimmage Saturday at the Dream Finders Homes Practice Complex.

"We had a big day yesterday," said Lawrence, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. "We got after it. [Head] Coach [Urban Meyer] has a great feel for the team, where we're at. We've all been working our tails off and he knows how to reward that and take care of us. I've been really impressed by that."

Sunday was the third of three consecutive practices open to fans and was the Jaguars' last open practice of 2021 training camp.

Lawrence and Meyer both spoke to the media following practice. Coverage of those availabilities can be seen on Jaguars Media channels and jaguars.com later Sunday.

The Jaguars will play host to the Cleveland Browns at TIAA Bank Field Saturday at 7 p.m. in the '21 preseason opener.

Here's a look at Sunday's practice:

PLAY OF THE DAY

Lawrence turned in several highlight plays in front of the fans at the 'Bank Sunday, but the day's highlight came on a long pass from Lawrence to veteran wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. Lawrence on the play threw back across the field to Treadwell, who ran a crossing pattern toward the left sideline. Treadwell, who has been among the standouts of camp, made a diving reception in front of cornerback Corey Straughter for 40-yard gain deep in the defense's territory. Lawrence had a touchdown pass to wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. shortly thereafter and had a short touchdown pass to wide receiver Jeff Cotton Jr. late in practice.
