First unofficial depth chart: No major surprises

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars released their first unofficial 2017 depth chart Friday.

While it included no major surprises, the list of the team's starters and reserves did provide clarity – and confirmed what Head Coach Doug Marrone said this week about young players earning starting roles.

It also clarified what Marrone said early this week about the backup quarterback positon.

Chad Henne, a 10-year veteran, is listed as the backup quarterback ahead of second-year veteran Brandon Allen. Marrone had said earlier this week that Henne was the No. 2 quarterback behind starter Blake Bortles.

As for young players earning roles?

It appears the team's two top rookies – first-round running back Leonard Fournette and second-round offensive tackle Cam Robinson – are doing just that. Fournette is a co-starter at running back with Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon and Robinson is a co-starter at left tackle with veteran Josh Wells.

Also of note: veteran Patrick Omameh is the starting left guard ahead of backup Tyler Shatley, with Brandon Linder at center, A.J. Cann at guard and Jermey Parnell at right tackle. Marrone said early in training camp he thought the team would have a good idea of its starting line before heading to New England for dual practices against the Patriots next week.
