JACKSONVILLE – The makeup of the Jaguars' coaching staff gets clearer by the day.

A week after hiring an offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, and three days after officially hiring a running backs coach, the Jaguars made a fourth official hire on offense Thursday.

Nathaniel Hackett, the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills the past two seasons, on Thursday was named the Jaguars' quarterbacks coach. He replaced Frank Scelfo, the quarterbacks coach the past two seasons.

Scelfo will remain on the Jaguars' staff.

Hackett, 35, the son of former longtime college head coach and NFL offensive coordinator Paul Hackett, has coached six seasons in the NFL – two as the offensive quality control coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2006-2007, two more as the offensive quality control coach for the Bills from 2008-2009, and then the past two as the Bills' offensive coordinator.

He worked as the quarterbacks/tight ends coach for Syracuse University in 2010, then spent 2011-2012 as the offensive coordinator at Syracuse. He worked all three seasons at Syracuse and the last two with Buffalo with Doug Marrone as head coach.

Marrone was hired last week by the Jaguars as assistant head coach-offense/offensive line.

Hackett, who worked with E.J. Manuel in Buffalo the past two seasons, reportedly turned down a second interview for the St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator position this week. The Bills ranked 26th in the NFL in total offense with 318.5 yards per game this past season, ranking 18th in passing with 225.9 yards per game and 25th in rushing with 92.6 yards per game.

The Bills ranked 19th offensively in 2013 at 338.1 yards per game, ranking 28th in passing with 193.9 yards per game and second in rushing at 144.2 yards per game. The Bills' running game was hurt this past season with C.J. Spiller limited to nine games.

The Jaguars hired former Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson – the Jaguars' quarterbacks coach in 2012 – for the offensive coordinator position last Wednesday. Kelly Skipper, the Raiders' running backs coach the past six seasons, was named the Jaguars' running backs coach on Tuesday.
