JACKSONVILLE – Jalen Ramsey's back.

What seemed possible now is close to official, with Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone on Tuesday telling media Ramsey will play in the third game of the 2017 preseason.

"Our plan is to get Jalen in there; Jalen, I feel good about," Marrone said Tuesday following the Jaguars' practice on the practice fields adjacent to EverBank Field.

"I can come out here and say that Jalen, without anything happening between now and the game, should be playing."

The Jaguars will play host to the Carolina Panthers at EverBank Field in Week 3 of the 2017 preseason Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

"I might get out there, do a little something, something," Ramsey said. "I'll get a little action – not too much, though."

Ramsey, the Jaguars' second-year starting cornerback began training camp on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing mid-June core muscle surgery. He came off the PUP list on August 12 and has missed each of the Jaguars' first two preseason games.

Ramsey, the No. 5 overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, started 16 games with two interceptions as a rookie. He was named to several All-Rookie teams.
