ATLANTA, Ga. – Blake Bortles won't play for the Jaguars Thursday.

He's far from alone.

Bortles, named the Jaguars' starting quarterback this past Saturday, was among 34 Jaguars players not expected to play against the Atlanta Falcons Thursday in the 2017 preseason finale at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Backup quarterback Chad Henne also was not expected to play.

That means Jaguars third-team quarterback Brandon Allen likely will start and play the entire game for a second consecutive preseason finale. He did so at Atlanta as a rookie last season.

Other offensive players not expected to play for the Jaguars Thursday:

Wide receivers Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson, Arrelious Benn, Keelan Cole, Allen Hurns and Rashad Greene Sr.; tight ends Marcedes Lewis and Mychal Rivera; running backs T.J. Yeldon, Leonard Fournette, Corey Grant and Chris Ivory; center Brandon Linder; right tackle Jermey Parnell; left tackles Cam Robinson and Josh Wells; and fullback Marquez Williams.

Defensive players not expected to play for the Jaguars Thursday:

Cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye and Doran Grant; free safety Tashaun Gipson; strong safety Barry Church;  linebackers Myles Jack, Telvin Smith and Josh McNary; middle linebacker Paul Posluszny; defensive ends Dante Fowler Jr., Yannick Ngakoue, Calais Campbell and Dawuane Smoot;  nose tackle Abry Jones and defensive tackle Malik Jackson.

Notable players expected to play include starting right guard A.J. Cann and Luke Bowanko and Patrick Omameh; Cann struggled in a Preseason Week 3 loss to Carolina and Bowanko and Omameh are competing at left guard. Rookie wide receiver Dede Westbrook also played, as did nickel corner Aaron Colvin – who missed the first three preseason games while returning from injury.
