 Jaguars claim wide receiver Jaelen Strong off waivers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed third-year WR Jaelen Strong, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars placed third-year DT Michael Bennett(pectoral muscle) on the club's reserve/injured list.

Strong, 6-2, 220, was originally selected in the third round (70th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft by Houston and appeared in 19 games during three seasons for the Texans, catching 28 passes for 292 yards (10.4 rec. avg.) and three TDs. Strong was waived by the Texans on Sept. 18. 

Strong attended Arizona State and appeared in 26 games in two seasons with the Sun Devils, totaling 157 receptions for 2,287 receiving yards and 17 TDs. Strong, a Philadelphia native, graduated from West Philadelphia (Pa.) Catholic H.S. in 2011 and posted team-highs of of 17 receptions for 318 yards and four TDs as a senior.

The Jaguars currently have 53 players on their active roster.
