The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed fourth-year offensive lineman Paul McQuistan and released veteran safety Brian Russell.

McQuistan, 6-6 and 315 pounds, was originally a third-round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2006 draft. He has played in 35 games with 12 starts and has made starts at right tackle (six), left guard (four) and right guard (two). He was waived by the Raiders on November 9.

McQuistan, 26, started six games in each of his first two seasons with the Raiders. He played in one game in 2008 before he was placed on injured reserve, and saw action as a reserve in three games this season. A native of San Diego, he was a four-year starter at left tackle for Weber State. His twin brother, Pat, was a teammate at Weber State and has played the last four seasons with Dallas.
