The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed fifth-year offensive tackle Guy Whimper (pictured) and released linebacker Eric Alexander.  In addition, first-year wide receiver Clarence Denmark was added to the practice squad and wide receiver Lance Long was waived.

Whimper, 6-5, 302, has played in 30 games for the New York Giants since being selected in the fourth round of the 2006 draft.  He was waived on Sept. 4, 2010 on final cuts.

In 2009, he played in six games including action at right tackle in two games and one at left tackle.  He spent the entire 2008 season on injured reserve with a foot injury.  Whimper appeared in all 16 games in 2007 on special teams and played in all four postseason games including Super Bowl XLII.

A native of Havelock, North Carolina, Whimper lettered in football, basketball and track at Havelock High School.  He was a four-year letterman at East Carolina where he played five different positions – outside linebacker, defensive end, tight end, right tackle and left tackle.  He played in 45 games with 26 starts for the Pirates.

Whimper will wear jersey number 68.

Denmark was on the Jaguars practice squad during week one after spending the entire preseason with the club.  A native of Jacksonville, Denmark was also on the practice squad for the final four games of the 2009 season.
