The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed first-year tight end Colin Cloherty to the active roster from the practice squad and placed veteran defensive end Aaron Kampman on injured reserve with a knee injury.  First-year defensive end Jammie Kirlew was added to the practice squad and rookie defensive end Marc Schiechl was waived from injured reserve.

Cloherty, 6-2, 245, was signed to the Jaguars practice squad on Nov. 14.  He has also spent time with Indianapolis, Cleveland and San Francisco.  He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Colts in 2009 and had one reception in week 17 at Buffalo.  Cloherty was signed by the 49ers to the practice squad on Oct. 3, 2010 and was activated to the 53-man roster for the final two games.  A native of Bethesda, Maryland, he was a three-year letterman at Brown where he finished with 99 career receptions for 1,211 yards and nine touchdowns.

Cloherty wears jersey number 46.

Kirlew, 6-3, 259, has spent time with Denver and Buffalo. He was a seventh-round draft pick of the Broncos in 2010 and was on the Bills practice squad for a portion of his rookie season.  He was waived by the Bills on Sept. 7, 2011 during final cuts.

A native of Orlando, Kirlew was a four-year starter at Indiana where he ranked third on the school's all-time list for sacks (23) and tied for second with 52.5 tackles for loss.  As a senior, he led the team with 6.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss to earn second-team All-Big Ten honors.  He was a second-team all-state selection as a senior at Cyprus Creek High School as a tight end and defensive end.

Kirlew will wear jersey number 49.
