Jaguars place exclusive rights tender on Peyton Thompson

The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed an exclusive rights tender on S Peyton Thompson, the club announced today.

Thompson, 5-10, 184, entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Atlanta Falcons in 2012 and has spent time with Washington, Chicago and Jacksonville. Since appearing on Jacksonville's active roster on Sept. 19, 2015, Thompson has appeared in 30 games with the team. In 2016, Thompson led the Jaguars special teams unit with seven tackles, while also registering five tackles (three solo) on the defensive side of the ball.

Thompson, 26, attended San Jose State (2008-11) and was credited with 186 tackles (125 solo), 10.5 tackles for a loss, seven INTs, one sack, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 22 passes defensed during his collegiate career. An Abilene, Texas native, Thompson attended Granite Bay (Calif.) High School where he was a two-time Sacramento Bee honorable mention All-Metro.
