Jaguars release Matt Jones

The Jaguars have released wide receiver Matt Jones.

On a day when players returned to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium to undergo physical assessments that kick off new strength coach Luke Richesson's conditioning program, Jones was cut by the team following a week in an Arkansas jail for violation of his probation. Thus ends an attempt to convert Jones from a college quarterback to a pro pass-catcher. He was the 21st overall pick of the 2005 draft.
