JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed second-year OL Brandon Thomas to the practice squad, the club announced today. The Jaguars had an opening on the practice squad when WR Jaydon Mickens was promoted to the active roster on Saturday.

Thomas, 6-3, 317, was originally selected in the third round (100th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he sustained a knee injury as a rookie and was placed on the reserve/injured list. Thomas spent the 2015 season with the 49ers before being traded to the Detroit Lions on Aug. 29, 2016. After being waived, Thomas signed and spent the 2016 season (practice squad) and part of the 2017 season with the Lions before being released by Detroit on Oct. 14, 2017. Thomas has yet to play in an NFL game.

Thomas, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., attended Clemson University and played more than 2,500 snaps at OT and OG for the Tigers. A two-time All-ACC selection and two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, he was named a co-captain for his senior season in 2013. Thomas graduated on May 10, 2013 with a degree in secondary education.
