JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-year LB Jonathan Freeny to the 53-man active roster and have released DB Lafayette Pitts, the club announced today. The Jaguars also released OL Norman Pricefrom the team's practice squad.
Freeny, 6-2, 255, has spent time with Baltimore and New England after originally being signed as an undrafted rookie by Miami in 2011. Freeny has appeared in 65 career games and has totaled 104 tackles (65 solo), including a career-high 50 tackles with New England in 2015. He appeared in all 16 games in 2012 and 2013 with Miami. Freeny appeared in three games for Baltimore in 2017 before being released on Oct. 17.
Freeny, 28, played collegiately at Rutgers and was a two-year starter, appearing in 46 games and totaling 93 tackles, 20 TFLs, 11.0 sacks, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries and one INT. Freeny, a native of Margate, Fla., attended Coconut Creek (Fla.) High School and was an All-Broward selection as a senior by the Miami Herald. He was born on June 15, 1989.
The Jaguars have 53 players on their active roster and nine players on their practice squad.
