The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed rookie wide receiver Mike Thomas to a contract and released veteran defensive back Calvin Lowry. Thomas, 22, was the club's fourth round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the 107th pick overall. He is the second of the team's nine draft picks to sign a contract this year.

Thomas, 5-8, 198 was one of three receivers selected by the Jaguars in 2009. He was a four-year starter at Arizona as a receiver and return specialist and finished as the Pac-10's all-time leader in receptions with 259. He ranked third in school history with 3,231 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns.

A native of DeSoto, Texas, Thomas led Arizona to its first bowl appearance in nine seasons in 2008. He finished with 74 receptions for 825 yards and four touchdowns and scored touchdowns three different ways (4 receiving, 2 punt returns, 1 kick return).

Lowry was signed by the Jaguars on Dec. 16, 2008 and was inactive for the final two games. He has played in 43 games with 14 starts for Tennessee and Denver.
