I have been a Jags fan for many years, and the Browns looked like many of the teams of Jaguars past with the penalties, poor play and just overall dysfunction in their play. It was nice to be a fan on the other side of that coin now. Can the Jags keep this up all season?? This looks like a team and an organization that can and will. Super Bowl or bust!!!
The Jaguars played very well in Sunday's 34-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns in the 2026 regular-season opener at EverBank Stadium – and while the Browns were far from the best team the Jaguars will play this season, playing well in that situation is what good teams do. One reason the Browns looked bad at times was the Jaguars played physically and efficiently on offense. They also played aggressively and physically on defense. They made big plays in big situations. They got themselves into good situations and took advantage of those situations. Playing that way strains an opponent – and when that opponent is still searching for its identity and finding its way, as is the case with the Browns, that opponent often makes enough mistakes for the game to turn one-sided. The Jaguars indeed have been on the wrong side of one-sided games in these situations often in the past. Can they stay on the other side? The schedule gets tougher, but this team has shown it can handle tough. Remain tuned.

Is Trevor Lawrence elite? If that question wasn't answered during the second half of last season and the game over the Browns on Sunday, I don't know what will convince the non-believers. Trevor played better than any other quarterback over the last eight games last season and he was even better Sunday.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has thrown 19 touchdowns with one interception in the Jaguars' last seven regular-season games. He has thrown 33 touchdowns, rushed for nine, and thrown 12 interceptions over the last two seasons. The Jaguars have won 14 of their last 18 regular season games. Lawrence finished fifth in Associated Press Most Valuable Player voting last season. Terms like "elite" and "franchise quarterback" have no real definition, and are therefore subject to endless interpretation and debate. Lawrence is playing like an elite quarterback. From this view, he is now elite. I don't know what will convince non-believers. If he keeps playing this way, maybe they will believe. If he keeps playing this way and they don't believe, it won't matter because the Jaguars will be winning and that's what matters.

The most impressive thing to me that hasn't been talked about much is that a lot of Trevor's passes travelled 20- or 30-plus air yards. There weren't a ton of short passes with long run after catch. You can't see that just looking at the stats, but very few quarterbacks – even some of the best – can't do that.
Lawrence is special. Many people have forgotten this. Special players do special things.

Living in Massachusetts, I didn't get to watch the game, just follow the Gamecast and then watch the highlights. How did Nate Boerkircher look? I saw he had one catch for nine yards, but overall what was your impression of him in his 38 snaps?
Jaguars rookie tight end Nate Boerkircher – "Boerk," as he is known to those who know football – played well Sunday. He already is proving to be an asset offensively, and I expect Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange to continue benefitting from his presence.

Great team win, but need to clean up the kickoff coverage. It's going to bite us at the end of a close game if they keep giving up huge yardage every time. Cleveland averaged 38 yads per return. Fix it O!

Was there a reason the Walker Little went in at right tackle after the intermission? Maybe Van Lanen was tired from the heat? I thought they both played well when they were in.
Cole Van Lanen, who started at right tackle Sunday, missed most of training camp and preseason on the Physically Unable to Perform list after offseason knee surgery. His status was uncertain until shortly before Week 1, and the plan entering the game was to play him for a half and have Little play the second. Sunday for Van Lanen therefore went according to plan and Coen said Monday he was pleased with how Van Lanen played.

The Jaguars played like a good team Sunday. Did it have some similarities to the 1999 AFC Central title team that went 14-2? Sure. Remember, though: It also had some similarities to the 2025 AFC South title team that went 13-4. Good teams have games where they look great. It's part of it.

People, and also Jaguars fans, don't seem to want to believe the Jaguars are good. They have won nine consecutive regular-season professional football games and only two of those games have been close. That's good. Maybe it's time to accept it.

I've been beating the drum for years that our previous running back's penchant for zero- and 1-yard runs was holding back our offense and slowing the growth of our majestic quarterback who was consistently in third-and-long situations. Sunday showed what we can be when we have a functional run and what Trev can be when he's operating with favorable down-and-distance situations.
Former Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. was a good player for a long time here. He had a knack for explosive runs and was very good in the passing game. I can't make a strong argument he "held back" the offense. But there is a strong belief within the organization that the running game this season will be more consistent with running backs Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez and Ameer Abdullah – and that that consistency will have them in better down-and-distance situations on second and third down. This would help the offense immeasurably.
