Official: OL Will Richardson signs rookie contract

JACKSONVILLE – Four down, three remaining.

That was the official count Thursday as the Jaguars signed more than half of their 2018 draft class on the day before rookie minicamp.

Will Richardson, an offensive tackle and a fourth-round selection the Jaguars in the 2018 NFL Draft, on Thursday afternoon signed his rookie contract with the team. He was the fourth member of the team's '18 draft class to do so on Thursday.

"It's amazing," Richardson said shortly after signing. "I couldn't even picture it. You think about this moment every day of your life when you're growing up. You think about signing to play for an NFL team, but actually doing it feels better than dreaming of doing it."

Richardson signed with the team shortly after arriving for the team's rookie minicamp, which will be held through Sunday.

"I always want to come in with a competitive attitude, but I'm ready to learn anything new that I need to learn from [Jaguars offensive line coach Pat Flaherty]. He's a great coach and I'm a competitive guy, so I just want to step in and give it my all from the start.

Richardson (6-feet-6, 306 pounds), who played collegiately at North Carolina State, was the No. 129 selection overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Richardson, a redshirt junior who forewent his senior season to enter the draft, was a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection this past season. He started 10 games as a junior and started 10 as a sophomore.

"It's an amazing day," he said. "It's kind of out of the ordinary, but it's in the ordinary because I've been going through it so much throughout the entire draft process. To come here and do all of this … I'm just walking around with a smile all day because I'm right here in the doors of what I want to do with the rest of my life, which is to play in the NFL."

The Jaguars also on Thursday signed sixth-round quarterback Tanner Lee (Nebraska, No. 203 overall), seventh-round linebacker Leon Jacobs (Wisconsin, No. 230 overall) and seventh-round punter Logan Cooke (Mississippi State, No. 247 overall). Their other '18 draft selections: defensive lineman Taven Bryan from the University of Florida No. 29 overall in Round 1, wide receiver DJ Chark from Louisiana State No. 61 overall in Round 2 and Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison No. 93 overall in Round 3.
