Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis spoke with the media on Monday: "…Obviously Gene Smith is doing a great job with getting great guys in here with great character and building a winning team, and me coming here right now is for my team. I'm tired of sitting at the house worried about what's going on with my contract and all of that. And I decided to let that run its course and let the chips fall where they may. Me being here is for my team and I want to be a part of something big."

Former Jaguar great Fred Taylor said he's not retired just yet.

Mark Long of the Associated Press weighs on Lewis reporting to camp.

Gene Frenette of the Florida Times-Union gives his early assessment of rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert: "There's a lot to like about Gabbert, too. Besides his obvious physical gifts (he had three jaw-dropping pass completions down the seam at Friday night's practice), the 21-year-old seems to handle attention reasonably well.  He understands all the fuss being made over him without getting too caught up in the rock-star treatment."

The last word

"Winning. Winning, wins and that's all we preach and Gene and the whole staff, I mean you have to credit them. They're doing a great job of getting good guys in here that all believe in the same thing and it shows in their play, and I can't wait to get out there to add to it.
