"You are judged when you're making a stand," Mathis said. "You are judged. In the end, it's how you handle the situation. I learned a lot last year. And it's always a growing process.  You're never through learning."  Florida Times-Union

"No question, you want to make the improvements," Gabbert said Sunday between a pair of Jaguars 2011 Training Camp practices. "You want to see yourself get better, see yourself make more throws, make more audibles, be correct the majority of the time.  Being a rookie you're still going to make mistakes. That's just the inevitable part of the process, but you want to make new ones. You don't want to keep making the same old mistakes week in and week out."

"After working on the side in the first two weeks of camp, then not playing in the preseason opener against New England, Jones-Drew said what he mostly wanted in his first relatively live practice was to get hit, to experience a feeling he hadn't felt in too long."

Stat of the day

The Jaguars have 26 players on their current roster from non Division I-A schools.  Four of the Jaguars' five draft picks in 2011 were from non-BCS schools and 14 of the 20 players selected by the club the last three years fall in the same category.

The Jaguars will hold two closed practices at the Florida Blue Health & Wellness Practice Fields on Monday.

"Everything has to be accelerated obviously because we had no OTAs, so developing everything and just clicking right here in training camp is going to be a little different. It'll require a little more focus and attention to detail definitely since you have less time."
