Youth, middle school and high school football programs may apply now through May 31 for football equipment grants from USA Football, the sport's national governing body.

Based on need, merit and a program's commitment to coaching education and best practices, USA Football will award more than $1 million in grants this summer.

Recipient programs redeem USA Football grant funds through Riddell, the official helmet and protective equipment partner of USA Football. Grants range from $500 to $1,500 for youth organizations and from $1,000 to $2,500 for high school programs, offering new equipment, uniforms, equipment reconditioning and flag football equipment to advance the fun and benefits of the sport.

USA Football's grant program has delivered the following since 2006:

  • Awarded more than $7 million in equipment grants to school-based and youth football programs
  • Benefitted more than 200,000 youth and high school football players in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
  • Assisted more than 5,500 youth and high school football programs in all 50 states

Youth leagues that are 501(c)(3) compliant and schools may submit applications by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 31, at http://www2.usafootball.com/grants. Applications must be submitted online.

USA Football's equipment grant program is made possible through the NFL Foundation.

USA Football is the official youth football development partner of the NFL and its 32 teams. The independent nonprofit also partners with leading medical organizations, the National Federation of State High School Associations and college conferences, including the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC, to lead and advance the sport for better and safer play. USA Football trains more high school and youth coaches combined than any organization in the United States.

The NFL Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and safety of sports, youth football and communities. The NFL Foundation represents all 32 NFL teams.

"Our equipment grants help youth leagues and scholastic programs continue to make positive differences in young people's lives through America's favorite sport," USA Football Executive Director SCOTT HALLENBECKsaid. "Even with successful fundraisers and responsible adherence to budgets, some organizations may find challenges in properly equipping their teams. We're proud to help create great football experiences with support from the NFL Foundation."
