Each round has 32 selections, where the order is determined by reverse order of the previous season's win-loss records.

The team with the worst record picks first, and the Super Bowl Champion picks last in the First Round.

Draft picks can also be traded between or during the draft. Trading allows a team to move up in draft order to select a particular player they desire.

The Draft takes place on the last Thursday in April and last three days. It rotates between various NFL teams home cities.

Round 1 starts on a Thursday evening, Rounds 2-3 take place on Friday evening and the Draft ends with Rounds 4-7 on Saturday.

In addition to receiving Draft picks as trade compensation, teams can also acquire compensatory draft picks based on free agent departures and acquisitions.

DRAFT TERMS TO KNOW
On the Clock

Time to make a pick! Teams "on the clock" have a set amount of time to select a player or trade their pick.

War Room

Space where team owners, coaches, and managers sit to make their draft decisions.

UDFAs

UDFAs, or Undrafted Free Agents, are undrafted players who can sign with any team after the draft.

Mr. Irrelevant

The nickname given to the very last player selected in the draft.
