John Stevenson is in his fifth season with the Jaguars and was promoted to assistant director of scouting in 2024. Stevenson enters his 11th year in an NFL scouting department, having previously spent six seasons with the 49ers scouting department in various roles, including the Nunn-Wooten Fellowship during training camp (2015), scouting assistant (2015-17) and area scout (2017-21).
Stevenson played for the Bemidji Axemen of the Indoor Football League and went to training camp with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League in 2015. In 2013, he signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent.
As a senior at Georgia Southern in 2012, he led the team with 103 tackles. He was voted to the team's leadership council by his peers and was named a team captain. Additionally, Stevenson was the recipient of the 2012 Erk Russell Award, given in honor of the late Georgia Southern Head Coach Erk Russell to a player who exemplifies the traits needed to play for him. A native of Stone Mountain, Ga., Stevenson graduated from Georgia Southern in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in management as well as a minor in marketing.
