Jaguars sign players to 10-man practice squad

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed seven players to their 10-man practice squad, the club announced today. The team's current practice squad signings include: undrafted rookie RB Tim Cook, undrafted rookie DE Hunter Dimick, undrafted rookie WR Amba Etta-Tawo, undrafted rookie OL Avery Gennesy, first-year TE David Grinnage, second-year DB Tracy Howard and second-year OL Chris Reed.

All seven players were waived by the Jaguars during final roster reductions on Saturday, Sept. 2. The Jaguars have three open spots on their 10-man practice squad. Below is a look at the seven players added to the team's practice squad this afternoon:

RB TIM COOK (6-0, 242, Oregon State): Rushed 30 times for 137 yards and one TD in 10 games during his senior season in 2016 ... Made his first career start against Idaho State in 2016 ... Tallied 108 rushing yards and his first career rushing TD against Washington ... Started his career at Butler County Community College in 2012 and joined Eastern Arizona Community College in 2014, when he rushed for 639 yards and seven TDs ... Also played LB and DE, and earned second-team All-Western States Football League honors at Eastern Arizona ... Set the White Hall (Arkansas) High School records for tackles in a season and a career ... Also participated in track & field for two years.

DE HUNTER DIMICK (6-3, 268, Utah): Earned All-America and All-Pac-12 honors as a senior ... A four-year starter, either part or full-time ... Played in 43 games and 33 starts ... Graduated as Utah's career record-holder for sacks (29.5) ... 44.0 career tackles for loss ranks third all-time at Utah ... 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America, two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District and four-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection ... As a senior, earned second-team all-American honors by Walter Camp and the Football Writers Association of America; Ted Hendricks Award finalist; first-team All-Pac-12 ... Named second-team All-American by FOXSports.com, Phil Steele, Sports on Earth and CollegeSportsMadness.com in 2016 ... Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week and Pac-12 Player of the Week after tying the Pac-12 record and setting a school record for sacks in a game (5.0) against Arizona State, while also breaking a school record with 6.5 tackles for loss ... Two-time first-team all-state, all-area and all-region at Syracuse (Utah) High School, where he also set the school's single-season sack (14) and career (36) records ... Lettered four years in football and one year in track & field.

WR AMBA ETTA-TAWO (6-1, 208, Syracuse): Joined the Orange in 2016 as a graduate transfer from the University of Maryland after spending four years, including a redshirt season, with the Terrapins ... Authored the most prolific receiving season in Syracuse history, setting 10 Orange receiving records in his one year on campus and being named to four All-America teams ... Teamed with Ervin Philips to set the ACC single-season record for most pass receptions by a pair of teammates (184) ... Invited to the 2017 Reese's Senior Bowl ... As a senior in 2016, started all 12 games at outside receiver and was installed as a team captain after the season ... Earned All-America honors from Sporting News (second team), the Associated Press (third team), Phil Steele (fourth team) and Athlon Sports (fourth team) ... All-ACC First Team selection (media, coaches) ... One of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation's most outstanding receiver ... Rated the 15th-best player in college football and No. 2 among wide receivers ... Three-time ACC Receiver of the Week ... Established SU single-season records for receptions (94), receiving yards (1,482) and receiving yards per game (123.5) ... ACC leader in receptions per game (7.8), total receiving yardage, receiving yards per game and TD catches (14) ... Coached by Kyle Hockman at McEachern (Georgia) High School ... Moved from Oman to Atlanta in 1999 ... Last name pronounced ET-ta-TAH-wo.

OL AVERY GENNESY (6-5, 318, Texas A&M): Started 26 games at LT for the Aggies ... Helped clear the way for an offense that gained an average of 424.7 total yards per game (169.1 rushing and 255.6 passing) ... The 2015 offense was the seventh group in school history to gain more than 5,000 total yards, 3,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in the same season ... Named to the 2015 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll ... Redshirted after enrolling at Texas A&M in January ... Earned a spot on the depth chart but didn't see any action while redshirting ... Named to 2014 SEC Academic Honor Team ... Spent two seasons at East Mississippi CC in Scooba, Miss. ... Helped lead the East Mississippi Lions to the 2013 National Junior College Championship and a 12-0 record, including a win over Georgia Military in the Mississippi Bowl ... Cleared the way for an offense that averaged an NJCAA-best 62.2 points ... Consensus four-star prospect.

TE DAVID GRINNAGE (6-5, 265, North Carolina State): Has yet to appear in an NFL game after originally signing as a rookie free agent with Green Bay on April 30, 2016 … Released by the Packers via injury settlement after sustaining an injury during rookie minicamp … A three-year letterman at North Carolina State University, he caught 67 career passes for 798 yards and nine TDs … Left for the NFL following his redshirt junior season … Attended Newark H.S. in Newark, Del., and was a three-star recruit coming out of high school.

DB TRACY HOWARD (5-10, 185, Miami): Went undrafted in 2016, but spent his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, appearing in 15 games with three starts after signing as a free agent on May 5, 2016 .. Totaled 16 tackles (12 solo) and one pass defensed, also returned seven kickoffs for 111 yards (15.9 KR avg.) … Attended the University of Miami (Fla.) where he appeared in 51 games with 22 starts and totaled 102 tackles, 10 passes defensed, five INTs and two forced fumbles … As a senior in 2015, started eight of 13 games and finished with 30 tackles and four passes defensed … Majored in sociology … A native of Miramar, Fla., attended Miramar H.S. and totaled 50 tackles and 10 INTs a senior … Born on April 29, 1994.

OL CHRIS REED (6-5, 210, Minnesota State): Went undrafted in 2015 and spent his rookie season on the Jaguars' practice squad … Appeared in 10 games and made four starts last season as a first-year plater … Was a four-year letterman at Minnesota State and appeared in 48 games during his college career, including 14 starts as a senior in 2014 … Also competed for the school's indoor and outdoor track teams and qualified for the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championships in shot put … Was an 11-time NCAA Division II Track & Field All-American … Three-year starter at Omaha Central (Neb.) High School.
