Jaguars sign two players to 10-man practice squad

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed two players to their 10-man practice squad, the club announced today. The team's current practice squad signings are fourth-year CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste and undrafted rookie OLB Carroll Phillips.Both players were with the Jaguars throughout the preseason before being waived on Saturday. The Jaguars have one opening remaining on their 10-man practice squad. Below is a look at the two players added to the team's practice squad this morning:
CB STANLEY JEAN-BAPTISTE (6-3, 218, Nebraska): Has previously spent time with Kansas City, Seattle and Detroit after originally being selected by New Orleans in the second round (58th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft … Has appeared in four career games, all of which were with the Saints during his rookie season … Most recently, was signed by Kansas City on May 19, 2017, before being waived on June 15 … Attended the University of Nebraska where he appeared in 36 career games, totaling 74 tackles (50 solo), one sack, seven INTs, 22 passes defensed and seven special teams tackles … As a senior in 2013, started all 13 games and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection after posting 41 tackles (27 solo), one sack and four INTs, including one returned for a TD … Originally enrolled as a WR, but made the transition to CB in 2011.

OLB CARROLL PHILLIPS (6-3, 242, Illinois): Saw action in 31 career games and totaled 88 tackles (47 solo), 25.5 tackles for a loss, 12.0 sacks and three fumble recoveries ... Had his best season in 2016 recording 56 tackles (30 solo), 20.0 tackles for loss and nine sacks ... Named to the All-Big Ten first team (media), the first Illinois first- team selection since 2011 ... Named to the All-Big Ten honorable mention (coaches) ... Tied Simeon Rice (1994) and Moe Gardner (1989) for the fifth-most TFLs in an Illinois season (20.0) ... Attended Miami Central High School and was a three-star recruit by ESPN.com, Rivals and 247Sports ... Played in eight games in 2013 totaling 50 tackles, eight TFLs, four sacks, three pass break-ups, one interception returned for a touchdown and one fumble recovery.
