JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars' defensive theme continued late Friday.

And with their third selection of this year's draft, they not only addressed defense, they did so at the edge-rusher position.

Yannick Ngakoue, a defensive end from University of Maryland, became the Jaguars' third selection in this year's draft late Friday evening. The Jaguars took him with the No. 6 selection of the third round, the No. 69 selection overall.

Ngakoue (6-feet-2, 255 pounds), who played three years at Maryland, registered 21.5 sacks in his career there. He also registered 33 tackles for loss.

He registered 13.5 sacks as a junior last season, which was the second-highest total in the nation. He also had 15 tackles for loss. He had 14.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore with six sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss with two sacks as a freshman.

The Jaguars selected Florida State cornerback Jalen Ramsey with the No. 5 overall selection in the first round, then selected UCLA linebacker Myles Jack with the No. 36 overall selection in the second round early Friday.

With the 69th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Jaguars selected Maryland defensive lineman Yannick Ngakoue.
