JACKSONVILLE – Smiles come easy for Cam Robinson these days.

It hasn't always been that way in recent seasons. Not that the veteran left tackle didn't always love his sport. It just always hasn't been as fun as it is now.

"I'm as happy as I've been in a long time playing the game of football," he said.

Robinson, the Jaguars' starting left tackle for the past six seasons, joined senior writer John Oehser for this 2022 Week 15 O-Zone Podcast. He discussed multiple topics, including his thoughts on Jaguars second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, has thrown 10 touchdowns with no interceptions in the last five games. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a victory over the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday, becoming the first offensive player in team history to be so honored twice in one season.

"Trevor's going to be real good in this league for a long time," Robinson said. "What's so fun to watch from my viewpoint is he's just now starting to scratch the surface. He's just now starting to tap in to what he's going to be.

"When the great quarterbacks in this league get mentioned, I think he's on his way to being in that conversation."

Robinson on Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson: "He's brought genuine leadership. He's a true leader of men, a true professional. That's been huge for us."

Robinson, too, discussed the vibe around the Jaguars – who have won three of their last five games after finishing with the NFL's worst record the past two seasons – has changed his outlook on the game.

"I was talking last Saturday with some teammates," Robinson said. "I was like, 'All the losing wears at you, especially when you're not used to it.' When it's never really been that way for you, it can kind of start to chip away at how you feel about the game. It's a constant battle. You have to kind of stay locked in on the bigger picture.

"Talking to teammates last weekend I told them, 'This is genuinely the most fun I've had playing football in a long time.'''
