Mock Draft Tracker 10.0: Wide Receiver, Cornerback Remain Popular Projections for Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE – Call this week one for the corner. And another for receiver.

This is the 10^th 2024 jaguars.com mock draft tracker – and with this being the first tracker after the start of the 2024 NFL League Year, analysts' opinions on the Jaguars' potential draft-day direction were perhaps unsurprising.

The most-commonly projected direction for the Jaguars at No. 17 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft? Cornerback and wide receiver, with many analysts believing those are the team's most obvious "needs" after last week's "first wave" of free agency.

Corner was particularly popular for the Jaguars among analysts in this week's tracker, with multiple players at the position projected to the Jaguars in Round 1.

Among them: Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo, Terrion Arnold of Alabama and Nate Wiggins of Clemson. All were projected to the Jaguars by multiple analysts this week.

"Mitchell is long, fast, athletic, and was ridiculously productive in college," Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports wrote, with Tony Catalina of the Pro Football Network writing, "The Jags should feel excited about adding an excellent cornerback talent to a group that needs it; Wiggins could end up being the best cornerback in this draft class."

Arnold, too, drew praise from analysts.

"If the Jaguars want to get back on top of the division, they'll need better defensive players at premium positions; getting potentially the top cornerback in the class certainly qualifies," Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports wrote of Arnold, with Ian Cummings of the Pro Football Network writing: "[Jaguars defensive coordinator] Ryan Nielsen runs a man-oriented scheme, and there's no cornerback prospect better equipped to thrive in man coverage than Terrion Arnold. Already, Arnold is advanced beyond his years technically, and his absurd fluidity and closing burst allow him to suffocate wide receivers."

Wide receiver also remained a popular projection, with multiple analysts projecting Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell to the Jaguars in Round 1.

"Mitchell is the kind of elite athlete that Jaguars] General Manager Trent Baalke tends to gravitate toward,” Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus [wrote.

Other players projected to the Jaguars at No. 17 in this week's tracker: Texas defensive lineman Byron Murphy II, Louisiana State wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson.
