JACKSONVILLE – Tony Boselli again is a step closer to the Hall of Fame.
Boselli, the Jaguars' cornerstone selection in their inaugural 1995 NFL Draft and a perennial Pro Bowl left tackle in the 1990s, on Tuesday night was among 25 modern-era semifinalists named for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2019.
This is the fourth consecutive year Boselli has been a Hall semifinalist. He was a finalist last year for the second time.
Boselli, the No. 2 overall selection by the Jaguars in the 1995 NFL Draft, played with the Jaguars from 1995-2001. He made the Pro Bowl each season from 1996-2000 and was named to the NFL's All-Decade team of the 1990s.
Two other longtime Jaguars players, wide receiver Jimmy Smith (1995-2005) and running back Fred Taylor (1998-2007), were nominees for the 2019 class but did not make the semifinalist list.
Wide receiver Torry Holt, who played for the St. Louis Rams from 1999-2008 before finishing his career with the Jaguars in 2009, also was named a Hall semifinalist.
