JACKSONVILLE – Defensive end Hunter Dimick will work with the starters.

So will wide receiver Dede Westbrook and offensive tackle Josh Wells, with the insertion of that trio into the starting lineup among the notable Jaguars announcements shortly before the 2018 preseason opener Thursday night.

Dimick, a second-year veteran who has been impressive as an edge rusher during 2018 Training Camp, will start at end. The Jaguars' three strong-side defensive ends – Calais Campbell, Dawuane Smoot and rookie first-round draft selection Taven Bryan – were among 11 players ruled out of the game.

The defending AFC South Champion Jaguars will play host to the defending NFC South Champion New Orleans Saints in the '18 preseason opener at TIAA Bank Field Thursday at 7 p.m.

Jaguars players ruled out of the game: right tackle Jermey Parnell, wide receiver DeAndre Smelter, Campbell, Bryan, Smoot, nose tackle Eli Ankou, linebacker Brooks Ellis, safety Don Carey, offensive tackle Will Richardson, wide receiver Keelan Cole.

Fourth-year veteran Dante Fowler Jr. (shoulder) also was ruled out. He remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list, where he has been since the beginning of training camp in late July.

Westbrook will start in place of Cole opposite veteran Marqise Lee. Wells will start for Parnell opposite left tackle Cam Robinson.
