Jaguars End Mini-Camp

The Jacksonville Jaguars concluded the 2007 mini-camp with a morning workout on the practice fields at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Rookie cornerback Rashod Moulton, who was one of four workout players in attendance, was signed to a contract today.

"I think it was a good beginning," said head coach Jack Del Rio. "Obviously the rookies were added, draft picks and undrafted rookies were able to join us. We got five good practices in the last three days. We talk about it all the time but we really do concentrate on the fundamentals of what we believe in as a staff – offense, defense, special teams. That's what we're really focusing on right now, trying to indoctrinate our rookies into our system, our way of doing things."

This weekend's mini-camp marked the first full team work with Del Rio's new offensive coaching staff and special teams coaches. Dirk Koetter was hired as the Jaguars offensive coordinator in January, along with Mike Shula, Todd Monken and Robert Prince, to improve the team's passing attack. Joe DeCamillis and Tom Williams have taken over the special teams.

"Our 19 OTAs are going to take place over a five-week period of time," said Del Rio on the practice schedule. "One of the things we want to do is get out of here and give the players a little bit longer break than we had last year prior to camp, and by design we're just looking to do everything we can to put our best product forward in September. Right now it's obviously very important to get a lot of the fundamentals in about how you do things with each specific position and also within your scheme in how you want to approach things."

Moulton, 26, played collegiately at Fort Valley State where he was a teammate with current Jaguars fullback Derrick Wimbush. The 5-11, 190-pound cornerback earned All-Conference honors as a defensive back and punt returner as a senior. He recorded five interceptions with a touchdown and returned 19 punts for a 7.9 yard average as a senior.

All the rookie players except John Broussard, who will head back to school, will continue in the offseason workout program on Wednesday. Broussard is expected back next week. All the players will return for the start of training camp with the first preseason game on Aug. 11 at Miami.
