Jaguars Josh Allen Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

DE Player of the Week AFC - JA

JACKSONVILLE – Josh Hines-Allen again has been honored by the NFL.

Allen, the Jaguars' outside linebacker who turned in a standout performance in a division showdown last Sunday, on Wednesday was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Allen registered 2.5 sacks with four official hurries in a 24-21 victory over the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium Sunday. One and a half sacks came on the Texans' final drive as the Jaguars forced a missed field goal to secure a victory that gave them a two-game lead in the AFC South.

This marks the third AFC Player of the Week honor. He also received the honor following a Week 18 victory over Tennessee last season and following a November 2021 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Allen is the third Jaguars player to be named Player of the Week this season. Kicker Brandon McManus was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following a three-field goal performance in a Week 4 victory over the Atlanta Falcons and quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following a three-touchdown performance in a Week 11 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

McManus was AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October.
