Jaguars make roster moves

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have promoted third-year S Doug Middleton to the active roster and waived ninth-year S Marcus Gilchrist, the club announced today. The Jaguars also signed LB Joe Dineen, DE Dewayne Hendrix and RB Jeremy McNichols to the practice squad. LB Keishawn Bierria was signed to the Arizona Cardinals 53-man roster from the Jaguars' practice squad.

Middleton, 6-0, 210, spent Weeks 13-15 on the Jaguars' practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. He spent the 2019 preseason with the New York Jets and parts of 2019 on the Dolphins' active roster and practice squad. He has appeared in 12 career games, including seven (four starts) in 2018 with the Jets where he totaled 22 tackles and three passes defensed. He has 28 career tackles and four career passes defensed.

Middleton attended Appalachian State University from 2011-15 and appeared in 37 games, totaling 173 tackles (113 solo), 16 passes defensed, six INTs and two forced fumbles. A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Middleton will wear No. 39 for the Jaguars. McNichols will wear No. 34, Dineen will wear No. 45 and Hendrix will wear No. 78.
