Jaguars sign wide receiver Max McCaffrey to active roster

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed first-year WR Max McCaffrey to the active roster from the New Orleans Saints' practice squad, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the club placed fourth-year WR Allen Robinson on the team's reserve/injured list.

McCaffrey, 6-2, 200, has previously spent time with Oakland, Green Bay and New Orleans after going undrafted in 2016. McCaffrey was originally signed by Oakland as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 30, 2016, and was released on Aug. 29, 2016. McCaffrey then signed with Green Bay's practice squad and was promoted to the active roster prior to the NFC Championship Game against the Falcons, but did not play. McCaffrey was waived by the Packers on Sept. 2, 2017 during roster reductions, and signed to the Saints' practice squad on Sept. 3.

McCaffrey appeared in 53 games with 38 starts during a four-year career at Duke. During his collegiate career, McCaffrey caught 117 career passes for 1,341 yards and 12 TDs. Max is the son of former NFL WR Ed McCaffrey, and his brother, Christian, is a rookie RB for the Carolina Panthers.

The Jaguars currently have 53 players on their active roster.
