JACKSONVILLE – The news is there is no news.
When it comes to the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, that has been the norm throughout the offseason – and the norm continues this week, with analysts unanimously continuing to project Clemson University quarterback Trevor Lawrence to the Jaguars there.
This week's 11th 2021 jaguars.com draft tracker includes 13 analysts.
All 13 analysts projected Lawrence to the Jaguars, who hold the No. 1 selection in the draft for the first time in franchise history. Here is what multiple analysts wrote about Lawrence and the Jaguars this week:
*Adam Rank, NFL.com: "Typically, given how much content everyone churns out in the pre-draft process, people start considering crazy fan theories. But not with this slot. No one's getting wild. And rightfully so."
*Josh Edwards, CBS Sports: "The beginning of the NFL draft order seems to be coming into focus and Trevor Lawrence is expected to be taken first.
*Ben Linsey, Pro Football Focus: "We've all known this pick for a while now. It would be a mistake for Jacksonville to do anything else."
*Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: "He's the clear top pick in this draft. The Jaguars did do some good things in free agency to help him."
*Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports: "Two words. It's happening."
As has been the case throughout the offseason, the Jaguars' selection at No. 25 overall – the selection from the Los Angeles Rams in the 2019 trade for cornerback Jalen Ramsey – isn't a unanimous projection. But this week's tracker features more of a consensus selection there than in most previous weeks, with Texas Christian safety Trevon Moehrig again a popular projection.
Moehrig, widely considered the top safety in the '21 draft, was projected to the Jaguars at No. 25 by five of 13 analysts in this week's tracker. Those analysts included:
*Rank, NFL.com: "While it would make a lot of sense to go with a cornerback in this spot, I really like going for Moehrig, the best prospect at his position."
*Edwards, CBS Sports: "Trevon Moehrig is one of the players that has been linked to Jacksonville a lot through the process; I think that is still a viable route as the team adds more talent to the defense."
*Wilson, CBS Sports: "Moehrig is the best safety in this class -- he can patrol centerfield or play in the slot."
*Ben Linsey, Pro Football Focus: "Moehrig projects as the best safety prospect in the draft, offering a diverse skill set given his size and the roles he was asked to play in TCU's defense."
Also projected to the Jaguars at No. 25 in the 11th tracker: Miami edge Gregory Rousseau, Notre Dame offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg, Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore, Oklahoma State offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore, Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Clemson running back Travis Etienne.
"They need speed in the backfield and Etienne is a home-run threat. Why not add him with his quarterback in the same round?" Prisco wrote.
