Zone, it feels good to finally see this team "settle in" to a solid foundation built by a young core group of leaders and coaches. The success last year does not feel like a fluke. It actually feels underrated and perhaps underachieving! This team won 13 games last year, won the AFC South and saw dramatic improvement from quarterback Trevor Lawrence and skill players in the second half of the season. I am excited for this season in a new way. It used to be like riding a wave not knowing if you would hit the shore standing or underwater. Now, it feels like a train ride knowing the team is going to get there and we can enjoy the view along the way. Just want to say one fer the new regime as we continue into a new era, which also seems to have certainty instead of being a passing fad.

The Jaguars indeed feel comparatively stable entering the 2026 NFL season. They return the core of last year's team – and this was a team last season that showed resilience, consistency and the ability to win on the road. The Jaguars also showed the ability to respond to those sorts of situations and to not have a short, difficult stretch become a longer, season-ruining stretch. That ability to respond to difficult situations is perhaps the biggest reason I have confidence in this team to contend this season. Whatever your talent level, the NFL season will present difficult situations. You might give up a big lead and lose. You might lose when you outplay your opponent, or on a bad call. You might lose consecutive games. You almost certainly will have injuries in difficult situations. Things will sometimes not go your way. Teams that continue to believe and play through those situations are usually the ones that contend consistently. Either way … one for the new regime and not being a passing fad? Absolutely.

KOAF. Regarding the fans' uproar about Quinn Ewers. The upside to Ewers is he has a rifle that rivals any arm in the league and has played in big games during his college career. The upside of releasing Mullens is $1.2 million saved to help sign wide receiver Parker Washington (The Jaguars were paying Mullens $177,000 a week to be the backup. He is now on the practice squad for $18,000 a week). In my opinion, Mullens is still the backup to Lawrence. If Lawrence goes down early, it's logical to think the Jags activate Mullens and make him QB1 since he knows the offense. Do you think, later this season, if Ewers grasps the fundamentals of the offense (i.e. proves to the staff that he fits in the system) that they release Mullens outright?

I confess I laughed when you said there was an uproar over new Jaguars quarterback Quinn Ewers. I presume these were many of the same people previously roaring upwardly over Nick Mullens being the backup. Either way, I don't know that it is guaranteed that Mullens will be elevated from the practice squad to be the backup if Lawrence were injured early, though it is a positive to have a player of his experience/knowledge of the offense as an option. The Jaguars already have released Mullens outright. Practice-squad players are free agents and can sign with any NFL team at any time. I do not expect the Jaguars to release Mullens from the practice squad this season.

When a player like Mullens is signed to the practice squad, is his contract renegotiated or is he paid at his previously contracted rate?

Practice-squad players earn a practice squad salary, which for a veteran such as Mullens is a maximum $22,850 per week.

Do any of the practice-squad players travel with the team in case of injury or illness? What do the practice-squad players do when the team travels? Do they still work with the coaches or just have some time off?

Practice-squad players who will or may be elevated to play on game day do travel. The team leaves on Saturday afternoon and returns Sunday evening for most Sunday games. While I don't know specifically what players do on their own time, presumably many watch the Jaguars games when not traveling. Perhaps some watch Gilligan's Island or Love Island or some other show associated with islands. Coaches travel to games, so players who don't travel do not work with coaches when the team travels.

I know you have absolutely no knowledge of this, but do you think the front office might have offered Mullens a "little bit" more money to be on the practice squad? I just don't get why he would return on a base practice squad salary. It is a huge pay cut for him. Why would he agree to do this?

While a practice-salary is not as good as an active-roster salary, it's much better than no salary.

Hmm, I would like to make $13,000-plus a WEEK. I don't know if my presence would help the team, but I could run around in shorts and helmet a few days a week. I could even take getting tackled by guys with superhuman strength except with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, there is really no hitting going on. Sounds … awful. Sign me up!

The NFL is a very fair entity. If you're physically capable of being on the practice squad, and if you are one of the best football players in the world, teams will sign you onto the practice squad.

C'mon Boselli, this is your responsibility. Take a stance on all this "prowler" controversy. This is obviously your biggest issue now. But I do like the prowlers. At the time, I thought they were the coolest unis in the NFL. No one had three-color-number stitching.

I get that uniforms are always going to be a topic. This is because it's an issue of opinions – and the thing about opinions is mine is the only correct one. I expect there is a good chance the Jaguars will have new uniforms in 2028. I do not expect clarity on the "controversy" until we're closer to that year. I expect the new uniforms will have "prowler elements," though I will be surprised if the new uniforms are the true "Prowlers."

Mr. O. When it comes to uniforms, the opinion that matters most would seem to belong to Trevor. He is the one with fractions of seconds to locate his receiver. The more the uniform stands out on the green grass, among the clutter of signs in the stadium, and among opponent uniforms, the better his day ought to be. What say you?

I say sometimes people overthink things. I can't think of a specific time that this applies.

O-Zone, why is our rivalry game against the Colts? Wouldn't it be more fitting against the Titans? I think most of us have a special dislike for the Tennessee Oilers/Titans, rooted long ago when Steve McNair and Jeff Fisher headed the team with our only losses in that 1999 season coming against them. And, then again, with the Derrick Henry and Mike Vrabel-led squads. I hated watching our annual Thursday Night game against them. Our helmets were ugly, our jerseys were ugly, and the score was normally ugly as well. As Dewey would've phrased our rivalry, "It was always the Titans."

The Jaguars will wear their "Rivalry" uniforms November 1 against the Indianapolis Colts in Jacksonville. This means they will wear a certain uniform in a certain game in a certain season. It does not mean that one team or another is their ultimate all-time rival.

Sorry, but the Stadium of the Future is already here in Atlanta! And yes, Mercedes-Benz stadium is air conditioned!

This is true. It's also true that that the Stadium of the Future in Jacksonville will not feature air conditioning and will be designed for continuous cross breezes and air flow with a roof canopy. The stadium also will be designed to enhance air flow and enable "passive cooling."

This appears to be one of those things where people will believe a thing until proven otherwise. That's fine. When I was growing up, people believed newspapers would be around forever.
