Official: DeFilippo named OC, staff finalized

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars officially have a new offensive coordinator.

They have a slew of other new coaches and job changes, too.

Former Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo on Wednesday was hired as the Jaguars' offensive coordinator, highlighting a day when Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone announced the team's coaching staff for the 2019 season.

The Jaguars also announced the hiring of several position coaches: Terry Robiskie as running backs coach, George Warhop as offensive line coach, Jason Rebrovich as defensive line coach, David Merritt as assistant defensive line coach, Tim Walton as secondary/cornerbacks coach and Joe Danna as secondary/safeties coach.

Danna and Rebrovich served as assistants for the Jaguars the past two seasons, with Robiskie joining the Jaguars from the Buffalo Bills, Warhop from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Walton from the New York Giants and Merritt from the Arizona Cardinals.

John Donovan, a Jaguars offensive assistant the past two seasons, was promoted to assistant running backs coach.

Scott Milanovich, who served as the Jaguars' play-caller for the final five weeks of the season, will remain on staff as quarterbacks coach. He held that position each of the past two seasons.

A look at the new coaches/coaches with new responsibilities:

*DeFilippo served as Vikings offensive coordinator in 2018 after spending 2016-2017 as Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach. He was Browns offensive coordinator in 2015, Oakland Raiders quarterbacks coach in 2012-2014, New York Jets quarterbacks coach in 2009, Raiders quarterbacks coach in 2007-2008 and New York Giants quality control coach in 2005-2006. He worked with Jaguars Executive Vice President Football Operations Tom Coughlin with the Giants.

*Robiskie served as Bills wide receivers coach in 2018, Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator in 2016-2017, Atlanta Falcons wide receivers coach in 2008-2015, Miami Dolphins wide receivers coach in 2007, Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach in 2001-2003 and 2005-2006, Browns offensive coordinator and interim head coach in 2004, Washington Redskins wide receivers coach in 1994–1998, Redskins passing game coordinator in 1999, Redskins passing game coordinator and interim head coach in 2000, Los Angeles Raiders special teams assistant in 1982-1984, Raiders assistant running backs coach in 1985–1987, Raiders tight end coach in 1988 and Raiders offensive coordinator in 1989–1993.

*Warhop served as Buccaneers offensive line coach in 2014-2018 and their run game coordinator in 2016-2018, serving as Browns offensive line coach in 2009-2013, San Francisco 49ers offensive line coach in 2005-2008, Dallas Cowboys offensive line coach in 2003-2004, Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach in 1998-2002 and St. Louis Rams offensive line coach in 1996-1997.

*Rebrovich served as Jaguars assistant defensive line coach in 2017-2018, serving as Bills defensive quality control coach in 2013, Bills assistant defensive line coach in 2014, Bills outside linebackers coach in 2015 and Bills defensive line coach in 2016.

*Walton served as Giants defensive backs coach in 2015-2018, serving as St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator in 2013 and Detroit Lions defensive backs coach in 2009-2012.

*Danna served as Jaguars assistant secondary coach in 2017 and 2018. He was New York Jets defensive backs coach in 2015-2016, Falcons defensive backs coach in 2012-2014, Miami Dolphins assistant defensive backs coach in 2010-2011 and a defensive assistant with the Falcons in 2008-2009.

*Merritt served as the Cardinals defensive backs coach in 2018. He was New York Giants secondary/safeties coach from 2006-17, Giants defensive assistant from 2004-05, New York Jets defensive assistant/linebackers coach from 2001-03.

*Donovan enters his fourth season in the NFL, 23rd season of coaching overall, with 19 years of collegiate coaching experience, including two as the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Penn State. From 2011-13, was the offensive coordinator and running backs coach for three of the most productive offensive seasons in Vanderbilt's modern-era history.

*Offense: DeFilippo, coordinator; Warhop, offensive line; Scott Milanovich, quarterbacks; Robiskie, running backs; Ron Middleton, tight ends; Keenan McCardell, wide receivers; Tony Sparano Jr., assistant offensive line; John Donovan, assistant running backs; Eric Price, offense-research.

*Defense: Todd Wash, coordinator; Rebrovich, defensive line; Mark Collins, linebackers; Walton, secondary -- cornerback; Danna, secondary -- safeties; Merritt, assistant defensive line; Mike Rutenberg, assistant linebackers.

*Special teams: Joe DeCamillis, coordinator; Mike Mallory, assistant coordinator.

*Support staff: Tyler Wolf, director of team administration; ElizaBeth Mayers, assistant to the head coach and administrator of coaching operations.
