Roster Reduction: Jaguars Move to 53 Players

53

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars changed the roster in a big way Sunday.

Two weeks before the 2026 regular-season opener, the Jaguars had one of their busiest transaction days of the year as they reduced their roster to the NFL regular-season limit of 53 players. Teams had until Sunday at 6 p.m. EST to reduce to 53.

The Jaguars waived 25 players Sunday, released nine others, waived/injured two players, and placed two on reserve/injured (designated to return).

Quarterback Nick Mullens, wide receivers Tim Jones and Austin Trammell, offensive lineman Chuma Edoga and running back DeeJay Dallas were among the players released by the Jaguars Sunday. Linebackers Yasir Abdullah, Jalen McLeod and Jack Kiser were among those waived.

Mullens, an eight-year veteran, spent last season as the backup to starter Trevor Lawrence. His release came a day after the Jaguars traded a sixth-round selection in the 2028 NFL Draft to the Miami Dolphins for second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Edoga played in 14 games with two starts for the Jaguars last season after signing as an unrestricted free agent in the 2025 offseason, with Dallas playing in three games last season for the Jaguars.

Jones has played 53 games with three starts for the Jaguars the past five seasons, with Trammell playing seven games for the Jaguars the past two seasons.

Abdullah, a sixth-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2023 NFL Draft, played 29 games with three starts in three seasons. Kiser, a fourth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, played in 14 games as a rookie. McLeod, a sixth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, spent the 2025 season on injured reserve.
