Tyler Tettleton enters his fifth season with the Jaguars and fourth as assistant wide receivers coach.
In 2025, Tettleton helped create a balanced attack that featured three 700-yard receivers in 2025, Jacksonville was just one of four teams to do so. WR Parker Washington set career highs in every major statistical category in 2025 as he totaled 58 receptions for 847 yards (14.6 avg.) and five touchdowns, including a career-long 63 yard catch. WR Jakobi Meyers, a mid-season acquistion, made an immediate impact ranking third in receiving first downs (28), fourth in receptions (42) and seventh in receiving yards in the AFC after joining the team in Week 10.
Tettleton helped facilitate the development of rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. in 2024 as assistant wide receivers coach as well as pass game specialist, who finished the season with rookie franchise records in receiving yards (1,282), receptions (87), yards per catch (min. 50 receptions; 14.7) and receiving touchdowns (10). Thomas Jr.'s four games of 100-plus yards were the most by a rookie in both franchise history and the NFL in 2024. Additionally, Thomas Jr.'s 11 total games with more than 75 receiving yards were the most by a rookie in the NFL since 1970 and tied for second-most in the NFL in 2024. Following Week 13 vs. New York Jets, Tettleton took on the responsibilities of running backs coach. Under his lead, the Jaguars rushing unit posted 514 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 143 carries in the final five games to close out the season.
In Tettleton's first season as assistant wide receivers coach/pass game specialist in 2023, WR Calvin Ridley led the Jaguars in receiving yards (1,016) and receiving touchdowns (eight) after missing all of the 2022 season and only appearing in five games in 2021. WR Christian Kirk set a new career high with 13.8 yards per catch in 2023.
In 2022, Tettleton served as the assistant running backs coach and helped RB Travis Etienne Jr. become the team's leading rusher (1,125 yards) after missing the entire 2021 season with a foot injury. Etienne Jr.'s career-high 1,125 rushing yards ranked ninth in the NFL and were second-most by a player who had under 250 attempts, trailing only RB Christian McCaffrey (1,139 yards).
Before joining the Jaguars, Tettleton served as an assistant football coach/passing game coordinator/running backs coach on Ohio University's staff in 2021.
Tettleton spent the 2020 season with LSU as an offensive assistant and in 2019, he worked with the Cleveland Browns as an offensive quality control coach. In 2019, the Browns had three offensive players make the Pro Bowl, including WR Jarvis Landry.
Tettleton served as a scouting assistant with the New York Jets in 2018 following three years (2015-17) as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma. In his three seasons at Oklahoma, the Sooners won the Big 12 Conference Championship every year and accumulated a 36-4 record. QB Baker Mayfield won the 2017 Heisman Trophy and was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
As a player, Tettleton was a quarterback at Ohio University (2009-13). He finished his career completing 734-of-1,176 passes for 9,125 yards and 67 touchdowns. He also had 347 carries for 910 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. In 2011, Tettleton set single-season school records for completions (256), passer rating (148.9) and touchdown passes (28) and led the Bobcats to a 10-4 record.
Tettleton is a native of Norman, Okla. His father, Mickey, was a Major League Baseball player and hit 245 home runs during his 13-year career. He and his wife, Alexis, have one son, Jax.
