JACKSONVILLE – Girls flag football is growing at a rapid pace in Northeast Florida and these ladies deserve the recognition they have worked very hard for.

The first ever Jaguars ALL-PREP girls flag football team has been announced and the Jacksonville Jaguars could not be more excited to be involved in this growing sport. Fourteen females have been added to the ALL-PREP roster for the 2021-2022 season. Jaguars PREP partnered with Florida High School Football Media Group to help identify these talented athletes.

The females who made the ALL-PREP roster were recognized by collecting stats, a vetting process, and recommendations from their coaches. Along with this, all the athletes competed in Jaguars PREP events such as the QB skills challenge and/or the girls flag football preseason football classic.

"The sport of girls flag football has been fascinating to watch as the sport has grown in Florida over the last 7-8 years," says Joshua Wilson, founder, and publisher of FloridaHSfootball.com.

"When FloridaHSFootball.com started covering flag football full time in the 2015-2016 school year, the dream of flag football being a college scholarship sport was still very much a pipe dream, but now as we wrap up the 2021-2022 school year scholarship offers to play college flag football are a reality including many of those on the first-ever Jacksonville Jaguars ALL-PREP Girls Flag Football Team."

Along with the ALL-PREP roster, a player and coach of the year have been announced. Senior quarterback Brooke Swenson out of Middleburg has won player of the year and her coach, Jay Stilianou, has won coach of the year.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to acknowledge these young athletes in such a unique and exciting way," says Adriel Rocha, Director of the Jaguars Foundation. "Girls flag football is growing state and nationwide, and we wanted to bring a top tier recognition platform for our local athletes."
