Auditions for The Roar, the Jacksonville Jaguars' 1997 cheerleading squad, will take place on Saturday, April 12, at Bishop Kenny High School. Registration and audition times for the preliminary round will be scheduled according to candidates' last names, with three four-hour sessions scheduled.
All candidates with last names beginning with A through H must register at 8:00 a.m., I through R at 12:00 noon, and S through Z at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday the semifinal round of auditions will take place with check-in for the same respective groups at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m.
Interviews for finalists will be done on April 22-24, with the final auditions taking place on Saturday, April 26, at 8:00 a.m. at Bishop Kenny High School. The 1997 squad will be announced on Tuesday, April 29.
The Roar incorporates an up-tempo, dance-oriented style and will perform at all of the Jaguars' 1997 home games. Auditions are open to all women at least 18 years of age and who have received a high school diploma or equivalent as of June of this year. Applicants must have full-time responsibilities, including employment, school and/or children, and must live within 60 miles of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
