Blackout averted

The Jaguars have sold their remaining non-premium tickets for Sunday's regular season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, allowing the game to be televised locally on WAWS-Fox 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00. There are still a limited number of Club Seats and visiting team allocated tickets available. The Jaguars ticket office will be open from 9:00 to 3:00 on Saturday and 10:00 until kickoff on Sunday.

"We're pleased for both our team and our community," Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver said. "I know our players are excited and I know that our fans are anxious to get the season started. I expect a great football game."

The Jaguars are encouraging fans to arrive early at Alltel Stadium on Sunday for two reasons:

  1. American Red Cross volunteers, along with spouses of Jaguars players, coaches and staff, members of the Roar and Jaguars practice squad players, will be collecting donations for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Fans are encouraged to donate (cash or checks only) after they enter the stadium gates.
  1. The special pregame show will be a tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives four years ago in the attacks of Sept. 11. Members of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department will be on hand to participate in the tribute, which will include the unfurling of an American flag the size of the football field. Following the Anthem, a flyover is scheduled of four F-15 Eagles from the 125th Fighter Wing of the Florida Air National Guard based in Jacksonville.
