Darius signs extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed strong safety Donovin Darius to a contract extension, the team announced Thursday. Darius, an eighth-year pro out of Syracuse, started all 16 games for the fourth time in his career in 2004. He has missed only nine games since being drafted in 1998.

Darius holds the Jaguars' all-time record with 790 career tackles and he has started all 103 games played, which ranks as the third-most starts in team history. He broke the team record with nine turnovers last season and holds the team career mark with 19 turnovers. In seven seasons, he has 790 career tackles (500 solo), seven forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, two sacks and 14 interceptions.
