Greg Jones Makes a Mark Off the Field for the Thanksgiving Holiday

Greg Jones of the Jaguars has teamed up with Community Connections of Jacksonville to provide needy women and children with a Thanksgiving feast. The dinner will be at the Florence N. Davis Center (325 E. Duval St., Jacksonville) on Monday, November 23rd at 6:30pm.

Initially Greg was to sponsor a total of 33 families to represent his jersey number, but after identifying the level of need, Greg decided to provide a meal for all the residents of Community Connections.

In two weeks, 65 women and their children that currently live with Community Connections will receive a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. "The downfall of the economy has made it very difficult for many families to stay afloat and for many, just the necessities are hard to come by. I wanted to do my part by giving back to those in my community this holiday season," said Jones.

"This is a time of the year when people who are hurting tend to hurt more deeply. In this year's economy, many disadvantaged families are feeling the pinch worse than ever. Imagine being a homeless woman with children and trying to find something for which to be thankful. Community Connections is teaming up with Jaguars player Greg Jones to offer that hope. Community Connections provides housing, employment services, daycare, financial education and so many other services to help women and children and families avoid homelessness. Greg Jones is providing a festive holiday meal to these women and children, and the presence of such a superstar from the community is sure to help them see hope and find that sense of holiday joy," said Greg Frazier-Chief Development Officer: Community Connections.

The Thanksgiving event is just the start of what Greg has planned for the holiday season. In December, Greg will provide 100 youth with clothing and toys and 400 families with household and personal items and food through the Feed the Children organization in his hometown of Beaufort, SC.
